Night Of Sacrifice

This is a poem I wrote in 2004. It is depicting the sacrifices made by Cain and Abel. It makes me think about what type of sacrifice are we presenting to the Lord? Romans 12:1 tells us to present ourselves as a Living Sacrifice, but what determines if our sacrifice is acceptable? It's all about our heart.
Night of Sacrifice
Frozen Moon beams in the sky,
Tonight’s the night of sacrifice.
Two brothers born of sin,
Two brothers burdened by the Curse of Men.
Greed corrupted a sacrifice,
For a deceitful heart will not suffice.
The other offering was pure of heart,
And the sinful nature would soon depart.
Jealousy overcame the innocence,
A brother approached with devious intent.
Jealousy grasped innocence breath,
Entangling vine of strangulated death.
Frozen Moon beams in the sky,
Death betrayed by sacrifice.
Two brothers of Vanity Fair,
One was lost by a sinner’s prayer.
